House collapses on Amory Street in Cambridge on Tuesday – Boston 25 News
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Marie Vieira has lived on Amory Street in Cambridge for 36 years, and said she was not surprised to see her neighbor’s house collapse on Tuesday night.
“The last 20 years living next to this horror haven’t been fun,” Vieira said.
Neighbors said the back third of the house, mostly blocked by trees, had collapsed.
“I walked past this house a few times and it seemed like anytime you sneezed on it it would literally collapse,” said Todd Beal, who lives nearby.

Cambridge firefighters said one person, who was inside at the time, escaped uninjured. Neighbors said the owner usually walks in and out of the house and hasn’t fixed it in years. Now some neighbors are worried about the additional damage the house could cause to their building.
“I would be more concerned because of the condition; who just screams like I can’t wait for a fire to break out and extinguish everything around it, ”Beal said.
“I really hope the rest of the house doesn’t collapse tonight and hit my house,” Vieira said.
Neighbors hope that after the collapse, the city will do something about the poor condition of the house.
