Dane County Humane Society Training Course
The Dane County Humane Society offers dog training classes from May through November. Online registration is required at www.giveshelter.org/dog-training. The company offers in-person classes for six weeks in the spring, summer and fall. Course topics include Puppy Preschool, Dog Kindergarten, Behavioral Fundamentals, and Intermediate Behavior. It also offers a virtual workshop on free leash walking from May 12 to November 10, which includes a 90-minute virtual workshop and a 30-minute private lesson. More information: www.giveshelter.org.
Church summer suppers canceled
Due to COVID-19, the ladies at the Lutheran Church in Rockdale will not be hosting summer suppers in 2021. They hope to bring them back in 2022 and are currently discussing whether to host their annual dumpling supper. meat in October, with more news on that soon.
Cambridge Summer Library Program
Cambridge Library’s virtual summer reading program “Tails and Tales” starts in mid-June. Upcoming weekly shows and when they’ll be posted on the library’s Facebook page and website include: Cambridge 4-H Chickens (June 17), Turtle Dance Music Comedy Show Concert (June 23), Puppet Story with Shannon (June 30). Book reviews can be saved online at cambridgelib.beanstack.org. I Spy sheets can be picked up from the library on June 17; walk around, find 20 items and flip them for a treat. Milwaukee Zoo Pass
The Cambridge Community Library is now offering free passes to the Milwaukee County Zoo, courtesy of the Friends of the Cambridge Community Library.
The library has two passes available for a period of three days by adults with a valid Cambridge Community Library card. Each pass allows up to eight people and parking for one vehicle, or ten people without parking, in the Milwaukee County Zoo for free. Pass holders also get a 10% discount at the gift shop. And zoo visitors can bring their own food and drink.
Thursday: Outdoor knitting group
A free outdoor knitting group hosted by Kaleidoscope Fibers in Cambridge meets Thursdays 9:30 am-11am at Veteran’s Park in Cambridge city center. Bring a project and a chair. More information: [email protected]
June 10: Wild Rumpus Circus Show
Cambridge’s Community Activities Program hosts the Wild Rumpus Circus Show at Cambridge Primary School Gymnasium on Thursday, June 10 at 1 p.m. Tickets cost $ 10 for children, accompanying persons are free. Register online at www.cambridgecap.net or pay at the door.
June 12: Free firewood harvest
The Lake Ripley Management District is having a free firewood harvesting event on Saturday, June 12 at 9 a.m. at its lake reserve, N4341 County Road A, in the town of Oakland. June 18: Lions Club pizza sale
The Cambridge Area Lions Club offers grilled pizza to order on Friday, June 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Lions Clubhouse next to the Cambridge Wildlife and Fishing Area on Lagoon Road. Order a pizza ahead of time, pick it up on June 18, and take it home or have a picnic by the pond. The club typically cooks these toasted pizzas at the annual outdoor summer concerts at Veterans Park. More information: [email protected]
Summer library registration
Online registration for Deerfield’s summer library program, “Tails & Tales”, is currently underway at deerfieldpubliclibrary.beanstack.org. or by visiting the library at 12 W. June 9: Blood drive

June 12: Deerfield FarmeRs market
The Deerfield Farmers Market will be open every Saturday morning from 9 am to 12 noon in the Deerfield Lutheran Church parking lot, 206 S. Main Street. The 2021 market opened on May 15 and will run every Saturday until October 16. More information: [email protected]
