Train and ferry delays affect journeys between Manly, Chatswood and Leppington
A number of transportation issues including a bus crash and dangerous waves combined to create a disastrous commute to start the week for the Sydneysiders.
Several areas of greater Sydney have been plunged into chaos with a major ferry service closed and several vital train routes replaced with buses on Monday.
A bus also struck a pedestrian on Windsor Road at Norwest Boulevard just before 8:00 a.m., closing three of the five southbound lanes (lanes 1, 2 and 3) and causing delays.
In the western and southwestern parts of Sydney, buses replaced trains on the T2 Inner West / Leppington line and T5 Cumberland line – between Granville and Cabramatta in this direction only – due to a freight train having problems mechanics in Guildford.
However, services resumed just before 8:30 am but delays are still expected.
“Trains have resumed on the T2 Inner West & Leppington and T5 Cumberland line from Granville to Cabramatta,” said a spokesperson for Transport Management.
“Services are experiencing delays of up to 20 minutes due to a freight train with mechanical problems at Guildford earlier,”
“Please continue to allow additional travel time and check applications in real time for information on individual service delays.”

There are also “up to six minutes” delays on the T5 line at Cumberland.

In north-west Sydney, buses are replacing trains for the rest of the day Monday between Macquarie Park and Chatswood, in both directions, due to urgent infrastructure repairs in North Ryde.
“Passengers should change at Chatswood or Epping for T1 North Shore or T9 Northern Line service,” a spokesperson said.
However, metro trains continue to run between Tallawong and Macquarie Park.
On the northern beaches, dangerous surf conditions have forced the suspension of ferry services between Manly and Circular Quay.
The dangerous surf conditions are the consequences of a low pressure system off the coast of New Zealand that hit the coast of New South Wales on Friday and Saturday.
Buses have replaced several ferries between Circular Quay and Manly.
