Two Poole restaurants shortlisted for the British Takeaway Awards
Smokeys and V. Dorset Delivery were both on the South West’s shortlist for famous food awards.
The British Takeaway Awards (BTA) in partnership with Just Eat, champion independent take-out meals which have played a particularly important role in British life.
The finalists were voted in by the public and have a chance to win “Best Takeout” in each of the twelve award regions. They also have a chance to win one of the prestigious national awards, including the “Best Take-Out in Britain” award.

This year’s BTAs, to be held in London in September, will pay tribute to hardworking restaurants that have adapted during the pandemic to provide a taste of normalcy.
Keri Astill-Frew, owner of V.Dorset Delivery, said: “We are delighted to be finalists, especially since we have only been doing take out for 14 months.”

Whether they have supported key workers and people in need in the local community or have responded to the ever-changing demands for alternative diets, including vegan cuisine and healthier alternatives, the prizes will give the take out. the recognition they deserve after an eventful 2020
V.Dorset Delivery is the only nominated meatless take-out in the country (excluding take-out desserts).
She added: “We are delighted with the reviews we have received and would like to thank our customers for their incredible support.”
Regional winners will receive £ 1,000 to grow their business, with the overall ‘Britain’s Best Takeout’ overall award receiving the £ 5,000 prize.
Smokeys on Ashley Road in Poole was established in 2011 and offers award-winning, fresh and flame-grilled burgers throughout the region.
They were unfortunately forced to close for a year in 2018 due to a fire but reopened in 2019 before closing again for three months at the start of the pandemic.
Luke Reynolds, owner of Smokeys, said: “We were recently named as one of the best burgers in Dorset and with that [BTAs] we think we’ve really made a pretty brilliant comeback. ”
